COURSE CURRICULUM

The Graphic Design program offers a comprehensive six-semester curriculum designed to develop students’ creative, technical, and professional skills. In the first semester, students are introduced to foundational design principles, including graphic design fundamentals, colour theory, typography, digital tools, sketching, and digital media, alongside communication skills essential for academic and professional success. The second semester builds on these basics with advanced graphic design concepts, interaction design, design illustration, and typography, while also focusing on communication specific to graphic designers. Semester three deepens students’ design expertise with courses on graphic design process documentation, advanced interaction design, design history, information design, typography, digital tools, and motion media production. The fourth semester emphasizes client-focused design thinking, interactive web design, brand identity creation, advanced typography, and web application development, supported by general education. In semester five, students prepare for their careers through courses on career planning, design research, advanced graphic design projects involving client collaboration, interaction design, brand identity development, and sophisticated typography applications, along with general education. The final semester centers on professional readiness with a final portfolio course, a required field placement providing real-world experience, and a capstone project showcasing design thinking skills. Additionally, students study entrepreneurship and professional practice, learning ethical business conduct and client communication, and master graphic design production workflows for print and digital media. This structured progression ensures graduates leave the program with a strong foundation in design theory, hands-on experience with industry-standard tools, client interaction skills, and a polished professional portfolio, all of which prepare them to enter and succeed in the dynamic creative economy.
