COURSE CURRICULUM

The Mechanical Technician program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to develop students’ theoretical knowledge and practical skills across four semesters. In the first semester, students are introduced to foundational courses such as Mechanical Theory 1, Welding and Fabrication 1, Technical Drawing, Basic Technical Math, Machining Skills 1, Occupational Health and Safety, and Topics in the Contemporary Workplace. These courses cover essential topics including metrology, machining, welding techniques, blueprint interpretation, safety procedures, and workplace dynamics. The second semester builds on this foundation with Mechanical Theory 2, Welding and Fabrication 2, Computer Aided Design, Computer Numeric Control 1, Mechanical Drive Systems, Machining Skills 2, and Physics for Technicians, focusing on intermediate-level maintenance, CNC programming, drive systems, and physics principles relevant to mechanical technology. In the third semester, students explore Basic Electricity, Fluid Power 1, Quality Control and Assurance, Mechanical Theory 3, Computer Aided Design and Manufacturing, Computer Numerical Control 2, and advanced Machining Skills, expanding their knowledge in electrical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, quality processes, and advanced CNC operations. The fourth semester includes courses such as Technical Writing, Fluid Power 2, Advanced Electricity, Mechanical Theory 4, Welding and Fabrication 3, Design Project and Report, Manufacturing for Technicians, and Machine Disassembly and Reassembly. This final semester emphasizes advanced theory, project design, manufacturing processes, detailed mechanical assembly, and communication skills essential for the professional workplace. Throughout the program, students engage in hands-on labs, projects, and practical applications, ensuring they gain real-world experience alongside theoretical understanding. The curriculum’s progression from basic to advanced topics prepares graduates to meet industry demands, perform complex mechanical tasks, and succeed in various mechanical technician roles or related apprenticeships.
