COURSE CURRICULUM

The Game Programming program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with the skills needed to succeed in the fast-paced video game industry. In the first semester, students build foundational skills in communication, programming fundamentals using C++, game engines, and game logic, while gaining an understanding of the gaming industry, including the development lifecycle and team roles. The second semester advances their programming expertise with object-oriented programming concepts, intermediate C++ techniques, technical mathematics, web development, and advanced scripting within game engines, encouraging collaborative development using industry-standard tools. In the third semester, the focus shifts to professionalism and career readiness, user interface design, artificial intelligence, network programming, and physics for games. Students also prepare for their capstone project by developing game design documents and prototypes, alongside learning advanced object-oriented programming and design patterns commonly used in the industry. The final semester emphasizes graphics programming, including shader use and rendering pipelines, scripting and database management with Python, and the completion of a collaborative capstone project that simulates a real-world game development studio environment. Students further deepen their understanding of mathematics for games, including matrix transformations and quaternion rotations, and master data structures and algorithms essential for creating efficient games. Throughout the program, students engage in hands-on labs and collaborative projects, preparing them to meet the technical and creative challenges of game programming, while developing teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills vital for success in the competitive gaming industry.
