COURSE CURRICULUM

The Early Childhood Education program offers a comprehensive curriculum that combines theoretical knowledge with practical experience to prepare students for working with children from birth to age 12. In the first semester, students study child development from conception to 2.5 years, communication skills, early childhood education philosophies, health and safety, and arts-based curriculum fundamentals, while preparing for their initial field placement. The second semester focuses on child development from 2.5 to 12 years, planning learning environments, observation and documentation techniques, self-regulation, and curriculum planning, alongside their first teaching practicum. In the third semester, students explore inclusive practices and continue their teaching practicums, emphasizing adapting curriculum for diverse needs and supporting children’s emotional wellness. They also learn about family partnerships and planning activities for school-age children. The final semester covers program administration, including policies and regulations affecting early childhood education, and develops professional communication skills. Students also engage in arts-based curriculum projects and complete a final practicum that demonstrates their ability to observe, plan, guide behavior, and collaborate effectively with children, families, and colleagues. This structured program ensures graduates have the knowledge, skills, and hands-on experience necessary for successful careers in early childhood education.
