COURSE CURRICULUM

The Behavioural Psychology honours degree program is structured over four years to progressively develop strong theoretical knowledge, applied skills, and professional competence. In Year 1, students build foundational communication, learning, and psychological knowledge through courses in negotiation, communication skills, adult learning, introductory psychology, applied behaviour analysis, and developmental psychology. Year 2 deepens this foundation with advanced psychology topics such as abnormal psychology, ethics, personality theory, behavioural assessment, and applied behaviour analysis fieldwork, alongside a basic practicum and professional practice training. Year 3 emphasizes research, statistics, counselling, and specialized behavioural approaches, including work with addictions, mental health, developmental disabilities, acquired brain injury, corrections, and community-based service delivery, while also incorporating crisis intervention, group counselling, gerontology, and an advanced practicum. In the final year, students focus on professional integration and advanced application through field placement, consulting, psychometrics, applied behaviour analysis, and in-depth study of advanced behavioural topics. The program culminates in a two-part applied thesis and consolidation courses that integrate theory, research, and practice, ensuring graduates are well prepared for professional practice or further academic study in behavioural psychology.
