COURSE CURRICULUM

The Energy Systems Engineering Technician and Technology (ESET) program provides students with a comprehensive and applied education in renewable energy, energy management, and building energy systems. Over six semesters, students gain foundational knowledge in electrical fundamentals, installation methods, renewable energy technologies, and technical communications, progressing to advanced studies in photovoltaics, building energy efficiency, energy systems control, and electrical power distribution. The curriculum emphasizes hands-on, experiential learning, with courses in instrumentation, electronics, electro-mechanical systems, and 3D computer-aided design, equipping students to design, implement, and optimize energy systems in both residential and commercial settings. Students also explore workplace safety, energy and climate change policies, and project management, preparing them to meet industry standards and regulatory requirements. The program integrates technical mathematics, data literacy, and technical writing to develop the analytical and communication skills necessary for professional success. A capstone work placement provides practical experience, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world settings, develop career-ready skills, and build professional networks. By combining theoretical instruction with applied projects, the ESET program ensures graduates are well-prepared to work as Renewable Energy System Designers, Clean Energy Project Managers, Energy Auditors, and Energy Managers, addressing the growing demand for sustainable energy solutions and contributing to the reduction of energy consumption, greenhouse gas emissions, and operational costs in a rapidly evolving industry.
