ABOUT UNIVERSITY

St. Lawrence College, established as part of Ontario’s college system in 1967, was created to meet the growing demand for technical education and workforce training. Initially considered for Brockville, the main campus was instead established in Cornwall and Kingston to serve six Eastern Ontario counties. The Kingston campus was built on land formerly owned by the Ontario Psychiatric Hospital, purchased for one dollar, and began classes in 1969. Cornwall’s campus expanded through the acquisition of Cornwall Classical College in 1968 and federal support for retraining facilities in 1970. Brockville was later added as the third campus in 1970, also built on donated government land. Over the decades, St. Lawrence College has developed into a key educational institution offering diverse programs in business, early childhood education, engineering, and more. With over 50 years of history, the college now operates modern facilities in Kingston, Cornwall, and Brockville, providing high-quality education in small-town environments with personalized support. It continues to evolve, equipping students with practical skills to improve their career prospects and quality of life.
