COURSE CURRICULUM

The Post-Baccalaureate Diploma in Accounting Studies at StFX is a two-year, 48-credit program designed for students with a university degree in any discipline who wish to gain the academic foundation required for entry into the Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) Professional Education Program. All students, regardless of prior coursework, must complete the full 48 credits at StFX with a minimum passing grade of 50%. The program is structured to provide a comprehensive accounting education that combines introductory, intermediate, and advanced courses. In the first year, students complete foundational courses including Introductory Financial Accounting (BSAD 221), Introductory Managerial Accounting (BSAD 223), Financial Management I (BSAD 241), Technology Management (BSAD 281), Intermediate Managerial Accounting I (BSAD 321), Intermediate Financial Accounting I (BSAD 323), Financial Management II (BSAD 342), Business Law (BSAD 351), and one elective. The second year builds on this foundation with courses in Intermediate Managerial Accounting II (BSAD 322), Intermediate Financial Accounting II (BSAD 324), Auditing (BSAD 425), Advanced Financial Accounting (BSAD 426), Advanced Accounting II (BSAD 428), Personal Taxation (BSAD 450), Corporate Taxation (BSAD 460), and one elective. This curriculum ensures students develop both the technical accounting competencies and broader professional skills necessary for success in the accounting profession and prepares them for the practical and analytical demands of CPA certification.
