COURSE CURRICULUM

Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Psychology at StFX, the curriculum begins with foundational introductory courses in psychology that cover core concepts, research methods, neuroscience, development, social and abnormal psychology, and other key areas of psychological science. Students must complete both PSYC 101 and PSYC 102, followed by second-year lab courses such as PSYC 291 and PSYC 292 plus additional 200-level labs to build practical research skills. In upper years, BA students take a range of 300- or 400-level psychology courses that allow them to explore specialized topics such as social, developmental, cultural, and health psychology, and complete additional PSYC electives to fulfill credit requirements for the major. The BA emphasizes breadth of study within psychology while also allowing students to tailor their course selection to their interests in areas like forensic, gender, or personality psychology. Completion of this curriculum provides a solid grounding in both theoretical and applied psychological science within the context of the liberal art.
