ABOUT UNIVERSITY

St. Francis Xavier University is a public undergraduate liberal arts university located in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, Canada. It is a member of the Maple League, a group of primarily undergraduate universities in Eastern Canada. The university was founded as St. Francis Xavier College in 1855, with university status granted in 1866. Over the years, StFX expanded its educational offerings, including the introduction of graduate programs and community-focused initiatives such as the Coady International Institute. The university has maintained a strong tradition in community development and is recognized for its academic excellence, including the implementation of Canada's first Service Learning program in 1996. StFX is organized into multiple faculties including Arts, Science, Business, Education, and the Brian Mulroney Institute of Government.
