The Electromechanical Engineering Technologist program curriculum spans six semesters, integrating foundational theory, applied skills, and industry-focused experiences to prepare students for careers in automation, robotics, and advanced manufacturing. In the first semester, students begin with Mathematics I, DC Fundamentals, Industrial Robotics I, Microcontrollers I, Introduction to Engineering Technology, Technical Workplace Writing and Presentation Skills, and Computer Applications for Electrical Engineering, establishing essential technical knowledge and communication skills. The second semester builds on this foundation with Mathematics II, Industrial Robotics II, Microcontrollers II, AC Fundamentals, Introduction to Industrial Robotic Technologies and Workshop Practices, and an elective, followed by a Co-op Work Term in Robotics during the spring, offering hands-on industry experience. Semester three includes Fluid Power I, Introductory Statics, Industrial Robotics III, Quality Processes for Manufacturing, Welding and Materials for Robotics, and an elective, while semester four covers Robotic Vision Systems, Electrical Prints and Troubleshooting, Industrial Project Management, Introduction to Programmable Controllers, Fluid Power II, and an elective, concluding with a spring Co-op Work Term. In semester five, students study 3D CAD for Robotics, Applied Engineering II, Industrial Control Systems, Advanced Programmable Controllers, Robot Simulation I, Technical Math II, and Capstone Project I. The final semester includes Capstone Project II, Robot Simulation II, Electrical Rotating Machines, Mechanics of Mechanisms, and Advanced Math for Robotics, ensuring graduates acquire both theoretical understanding and practical experience, making them ready to work as designers, programrs, and technicians in the rapidly evolving automation and robotics industries.
