COURSE CURRICULUM

The Human Resources program curriculum is structured over six semesters to provide a strong foundation in business and specialized HR knowledge along with practical skills. In the first semester, students learn core concepts through courses such as Accounting Concepts I, Introduction to Canadian Business, Microeconomics, Mathematics of Personal Finance, Introduction to Human Resources, and Business Communications I. The second semester builds on this with Accounting Concepts II, Macroeconomics, Introduction to Canadian Marketing, Statistical Concepts, Business Communications II, and Basic Spreadsheeting, enhancing analytical and communication abilities. In the third semester, students explore Managerial Accounting, Business Law, Leadership Principles, Organizational Behaviour, Entrepreneurship, and Advanced Spreadsheeting to develop managerial and decision-making skills. The fourth semester focuses on key HR functions including Compensation and Performance Management, Industrial Relations, Employment Law I, Recruitment and Selection, and Training and Development along with an elective. The fifth semester advances knowledge in Collective Agreements, Benefits and Payroll, Occupational Health and Safety, Employment Law II, Disability Management, and HR Analytics. In the final semester, students study Mediation and Conflict Resolution, Human Resource Planning, Collective Bargaining, and Business Operations, with the option of completing either a work placement or simulation, ensuring practical experience and career readiness in human resource management.
