COURSE CURRICULUM

The Cyber Security for Control Systems certificate program consists of 27 credits across 10 courses and can be completed full-time in two 15-week semesters or part-time over five semesters. This program is designed to provide advanced skills in securing industrial control systems (ICS) and cyber-physical systems (CPS) in critical infrastructure sectors. Core courses include Industrial Control System Security, Security Standards and Compliance, Risk Assessment, Networking Protocols and Security, and Strategic Fundamentals of Cyber Warfare. Students will also study topics such as vulnerabilities, threat detection, and incident response, gaining a comprehensive understanding of how to defend digital control systems from cyber threats. Courses in business operations and change management further prepare students to align cybersecurity strategies with organizational goals. A capstone project provides hands-on experience, allowing students to apply their learning to real-world scenarios in ICS environments. In addition to required courses, students must choose one elective—either Programming Industrial Control Systems or Operating Systems and Shell Programming. These electives are prerequisites for several core courses, so it's recommended to complete them early. Graduates of this program are well-equipped for roles in cybersecurity operations within industrial environments, with the knowledge and skills to assess, protect, and manage security in complex control systems.
