COURSE CURRICULUM

The Medical Laboratory Technology diploma consists of 88.5 credits delivered through 31 courses over two years and six semesters, combining theoretical instruction, simulated lab training, and extensive clinical practicum. The curriculum builds a strong foundation in key scientific disciplines with courses such as Anatomy and Physiology, Clinical Chemistry (levels 1–3), Hematology (levels 1–3), Immunology, and Molecular Medicine Fundamentals. Students also study Clinical Microbiology across four progressive levels, gaining skills in detecting and identifying pathogens. Courses in Histotechnology, Transfusion Medicine, and Analytical Techniques prepare students for diagnostic testing involving tissues and blood products. Digital Applications and Laboratory Information Systems are covered to ensure familiarity with modern lab technologies. Professional competencies are emphasized through courses in Infection Prevention and Control, Professional Practice (1 and 2), Applied Investigation, Quality Management, and Professional Skills. The program includes a course and practicum focused on Specimen Collection and Handling. In the second year, students complete a comprehensive clinical practicum across key lab disciplines: Microbiology, Chemistry, Hematology, Transfusion Medicine, and Histotechnology. This hands-on training allows students to apply their knowledge in real healthcare settings. Upon completion, graduates are prepared to write the CSMLS certification exam and enter the workforce as skilled medical laboratory technologists in hospitals, diagnostic labs, or research facilities.
