COURSE CURRICULUM

The Environmental Technology diploma requires 60 credits over two years, with 33 courses spread across two semesters each year. The program covers a broad range of subjects essential for understanding and managing environmental challenges. Core courses include Biology and Field Ecology, Chemistry and the Environment, and Analytical Laboratory Skills, providing foundational scientific knowledge. Communication skills are emphasized through Technical Communications and Environmental Risk Communication courses, while Applied Digital Technologies and Data Interpretation prepare students for handling environmental data. Specialized environmental topics include Industrial Process and Environmental Control, Environmental Organic Chemistry, Environmental Law and Regulation, and Ecosystems and Environmental Impact Assessment. Hands-on learning is integrated through courses like Field Safety, Air Sampling and Monitoring, Environmental Sampling and Analysis, and Water and Wastewater Treatment Laboratory. Students also study Site Reclamation, Environmental Audits and Management Systems, Sustainable Urban Design, Solid Waste Management, and Environmental Microbiology, gaining practical skills for environmental management. Additional courses such as Geology, Hydrology and Hydrogeology, and Mathematics for Technologists round out the technical education. The program culminates with Environment Project Week, allowing students to apply their knowledge in real-world projects, preparing them for careers in environmental monitoring, resource management, and sustainable development across diverse industries.
