COURSE CURRICULUM

The Civil Engineering Technology diploma program requires 61.5 credits across 24 courses and offers fall, winter, and spring intakes to suit different schedules. Fall-start students follow a traditional academic calendar with a summer break, while winter-start students study continuously over four semesters with short breaks between terms. The program builds a strong foundation through core civil engineering courses such as Concrete Technology, Soil Mechanics, Civil Drafting, Construction Practices, Estimating, Surveying, and Strength of Materials, alongside math, statistics, technical communications, and digital technologies. Students who choose the Virtual Design and Construction major in their second year gain specialized skills in digital drafting, building systems, and design delivery through virtual and augmented reality. Courses include Advanced Drafting, Structural Design for Technologists, Virtual and Augmented Reality, Construction and Pipe Modelling, and Civil Drafting and Modelling. Students also explore advanced applications through Building Systems Modelling, Virtual Construction Management, and Virtual Estimating. The curriculum emphasizes the integration of modern visualization tools in civil engineering workflows. The program concludes with a CVT Capstone Project, offering real-world experience in virtual design and construction. Designed with industry input, the program prepares graduates for a wide range of roles in digital construction, project coordination, and civil infrastructure design using advanced technologies.
