COURSE CURRICULUM

The Civil Engineering Technology diploma program consists of 24 courses totaling 61.5 credits, with flexible fall and winter intakes. Fall-start students follow a traditional two-semester-per-year structure with a summer break, while winter-start students complete four consecutive semesters with short breaks between them. The curriculum provides a strong foundation in core civil engineering principles through courses such as Civil Drafting, Concrete Technology, Soil Mechanics, Construction Practices, and Statics, supported by technical skills training in Applied Digital Technologies, Estimating, Math, Statistics, and Surveying. Students also build essential workplace competencies through Technical Communications. Those in the Municipal Engineering stream focus on infrastructure planning, design, and management. Courses like Urban Services, Water Resources, and Asphalt Technology explore the design of water distribution, sewage systems, and road infrastructure. Students also gain expertise in Geotechnical and Structural Steel Design, Reinforced Concrete, and Transportation Engineering, while Environmental Engineering and Contracts & Regulations provide additional context for modern infrastructure projects. The program includes Project Planning and Control and culminates in a CVT Capstone Project, enabling students to apply their skills to real-world civil engineering challenges. With a well-rounded mix of technical, practical, and design-focused learning, graduates are prepared for a wide range of roles in municipal engineering and infrastructure development.
