COURSE CURRICULUM

The Avionics Technology diploma program requires the completion of 63 credits across 34 courses over two years, with two semesters each year. The curriculum covers a comprehensive range of topics essential for a career in aircraft avionics maintenance. Foundational courses include aerodynamics, Canadian aviation regulatory requirements, and aircraft systems theory and laboratory work, which introduce students to core aviation concepts and practical skills. Electrical system interfacing and installation, aircraft navigation systems, and autopilot and control systems courses deepen technical expertise. Students also study aircraft computers, instruments, and electrical drawing to develop detailed technical knowledge. The program emphasizes digital electronics with both theory and lab components, alongside avionics system installation and communication systems theory and labs. Additional courses focus on electronics theory and labs, applied sciences for aviation electronics, and electricity for aircraft. Practical skills are honed through avionics systems introduction and advanced laboratories, as well as standard practices theory and labs to ensure adherence to industry standards. Complementary courses in human factors and technical communications prepare students for professional environments. This well-rounded curriculum equips graduates with the theoretical knowledge and hands-on experience necessary to excel as avionics technicians and pursue licensure as Aircraft Maintenance Engineers (AME) "E".
