COURSE CURRICULUM

The Automotive Service Technology program is a comprehensive two-year course of study requiring 60 credits across 20 courses, designed to equip students with the essential skills and knowledge needed for a successful career in automotive service. Spanning four semesters, the curriculum covers a wide range of topics, including foundational mathematics for automotive technicians, professional communication skills, and a progression of electrical system courses from basic to advanced, including hybrid electric vehicle systems. Core technical subjects include safety, materials, and tools; suspension and steering; brake systems; engines; manual transmissions, transaxles, and clutches; transfer systems; and drive axle assemblies. Students also delve into ignition, fuel, and emission control systems, as well as electrical system diagnostics. Advanced courses focus on automatic transmissions, diesel fuel systems, HVAC systems, and vehicle systems management with integration and vehicle networks. The program also emphasizes workplace readiness through coaching and Red Seal standards preparation. This well-rounded curriculum ensures graduates are thoroughly prepared for the diverse challenges of the automotive industry, ready to excel in roles ranging from technicians to service managers.
