COURSE CURRICULUM

The Dental Assisting certificate program consists of 40.5 credits across 18 courses and is designed to be completed over one year through three semesters. The curriculum provides a comprehensive blend of theoretical instruction and practical application, preparing students to become competent, patient-focused dental assistants. Courses include Clinical Foundations, Restorative Procedures, Preventive Procedures, Prosthodontics, and Dental Specialties, covering essential hands-on skills required for supporting dentists in various clinical settings. Students also study Oral Anatomy and Histology, Nutrition, and Dental Radiography, equipping them with a well-rounded understanding of oral health science. Courses in Infection Prevention and Control, Dental Emergencies and Records, and Practice Management ensure students are trained in safety protocols and the administrative responsibilities of a dental assistant. Practical learning is emphasized through Radiography labs, and culminates in PRAC 278 - DA Practicum, where students apply their skills in real-world dental office environments. This intensive program prepares graduates for work in private practices, specialty clinics, and community health settings.
