COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Technology in Software Development requires 60 credits (20 courses) over two years, with two semesters each year. The program includes a software development core of 24 credits, complementary core courses totaling 21 credits, junior electives worth 9 credits, a senior software development elective (3 credits), and a senior elective (3 credits), plus an optional co-op work placement with no credit value. Required senior core courses cover advanced programming language concepts, research applications in software development, computational thinking and problem solving, computational intelligence, computer architecture, algorithms, data structures, and advanced user interface design. Complementary senior core courses include intercultural communications, discrete mathematics for computer science, ethics, systems thinking, and research methodologies, alongside junior core courses in linear algebra and quantitative methods. Electives allow students to customize their studies with junior science courses such as environmental science or health and wellness, senior software development electives like advanced web development, advanced database, or cryptography, and junior humanities and social science electives, including history of architecture, critical reading, communication skills, indigenous studies, psychology, and sociology. This diverse curriculum is designed to provide a strong foundation in software development while fostering critical thinking, ethical awareness, communication skills, and technical expertise to prepare students for successful careers in the dynamic tech industry.
