COURSE CURRICULUM

The Bachelor of Applied Petroleum Engineering Technology requires 57 credits for completion, divided into petroleum engineering core courses, electives, and work experience. The core courses total 13.5 credits and include essential subjects such as Fluid Phase Behaviour (CHEN 402), Industrial Communications (COMM 405), Drilling (DRLG 412), Petroleum Economics (ECON 404), Petroleum Geology (GEOL 410), Production Operations Engineering (PTPR 412), Reservoir Engineering (RESR 412), and Fundamentals of Engineering (THRM 405), each designed to build a strong technical foundation. Students must also complete 30 credits of work experience through two practicum courses, PRAC 400 and PRAC 410, which provide hands-on industry exposure and practical application of learned skills. To fulfill the 27-credit elective requirement, students select from core electives such as Team Skills (ADMN 411), Financial Control (BFIN 430), Project Management (PROJ 421), and Safety in the Petroleum Industry (SAFE 412).
