COURSE CURRICULUM

Sheridan’s 2-year Operations Technology (OT) Cybersecurity program provides a comprehensive pathway for students seeking advanced skills to protect critical infrastructure in sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, government, and military. The program begins in Semester 1 with foundational courses that develop professional and technical readiness, including Workplace Communications in Canada, The Future of Work: Engagement, Productivity and Wellness, Standards and Practices in the Canadian IT Industry, and Technology in the Canadian Economy, along with a choice between Applications of Creativity and Innovation or Building Your Canadian Career Toolkit, totaling 15 credits. Semester 2 builds technical expertise with courses in Security Fundamentals, Python Programming Foundations, Introduction to OT and ICS Networking Protocols, Threats and Vulnerabilities in OT Systems, OT Systems and Simulations, and OT/ICS Security Standards and Compliance, totaling 20 credits. Semester 3 expands students’ advanced capabilities with Cybersecurity Threats and Defense Strategies for OT, AI Edge Devices, Incident Response and Recovery for OT, The Purdue Model and Modern OT Network Architecture, Smart Manufacturing, IIoT and MES Integration, and Case Studies applying AI in OT cybersecurity, totaling 21 credits. Semester 4 provides an optional Co-op Work Term or Co-op Workplace Simulation, offering practical, hands-on experience to apply learned skills in real-world environments. Graduates emerge with both theoretical knowledge and applied skills to meet the evolving challenges of OT cybersecurity and are prepared for in-demand careers in the rapidly growing Industry 4.0 sector.
