COURSE CURRICULUM

Sheridan’s Artificial Intelligence Development and Applications graduate certificate program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to build strong technical skills and industry readiness. In Semester 1, students begin with foundational courses such as Python Programming for AI, Standards and Practices in the Canadian IT Industry, Technology in the Canadian Economy, and Workplace Communication in Canada, complemented by a choice of electives focused on creativity or career development, totaling 18 credits. Semester 2 advances students’ expertise with Introduction to AI, Introduction to Data Science, Big Data Analysis and Storage, Data Visualization, and Advanced Python for AI & ML, accumulating 16 credits. In Semester 3, students delve deeper into AI specialties with courses like AI and Natural Languages, Neural Networks & Deep Learning, Social Media Data Mining & Analysis, Ethics and Responsible AI, and an AI & ML Capstone Project that synthesizes learned concepts in practical applications, alongside a Work-Term and Career Preparation course, summing up to 17 credits. Finally, Semester 4 focuses on practical industry experience through a mandatory Co-op Work Term or Co-op Workplace Simulation, providing real-world exposure and career integration. Throughout the program, students develop not only advanced AI and machine learning capabilities but also an understanding of ethical AI practices and the social impact of technology. This well-rounded curriculum equips graduates with the skills needed to pursue various roles in AI, data science, and IT industries, while also preparing them for recognized certifications and future career success.
