COURSE CURRICULUM

Sheridan’s Digital Creature Animation post-graduate certificate program provides an intensive, hands-on curriculum designed to develop advanced skills in 3D creature animation, rigging, modelling, and visual effects. In Semester 1, students begin with Digital Creature Project Pre-Production, Digital Creature Methodology, and Digital Creature Systems, gaining foundational knowledge in creature animation pipelines, while also studying Anatomy and Life Drawing and mastering Digital Sculpting Tools, totaling 21 credits. Semester 2 builds on these skills with Digital Creature Directed Project, advanced Digital Creature Methodology, and Digital Creature Systems courses, alongside continued study of Anatomy and Life Drawing, totaling 18 credits, allowing students to refine their technical precision, creative problem-solving, and production workflows. Semester 3 focuses on professional-level execution through the Digital Creature Capstone Project and VFX Industry course, totaling 20 credits, enabling students to apply their accumulated skills in a comprehensive, industry-relevant project while gaining insights into the workflows, standards, and expectations of visual effects studios. Throughout the program, students work under the guidance of experienced industry professionals, emphasizing both technical excellence and professional practices, and develop a polished, portfolio-ready body of work that showcases advanced creature design, animation, and rigging abilities. This curriculum prepares graduates to launch or advance careers in animation studios, visual effects, and related creative industries, meeting the high demand for skilled digital creature artists.
