COURSE CURRICULUM

Sheridan’s Computer Animation post-graduate certificate program offers a structured, in-depth curriculum designed to develop students into skilled and job-ready 3D animation professionals. Across three semesters, students progress through a carefully sequenced series of courses that cover all critical aspects of computer animation. In the first semester, students take Asset Creation 1, Animation Methodology 1, and Technical Direction 1, each worth four credits and focused on building a strong foundation in modeling, animation principles, and technical problem-solving. These are complemented by Animation Design and Lighting and Look Development 1, which introduce students to the visual storytelling and rendering processes. The second semester continues to build on this foundation with Asset Creation 2, Computer Animation Methodology 2, and Technical Direction 2, again at four credits each, providing deeper training in character development, motion, and advanced technical workflows. Students also take Directed Projects and Lighting and Look Development 2, applying their learning to focused assignments that replicate real-world animation production scenarios. The third and final semester is centered around the Computer Animation Capstone, an eight-credit course that allows students to create a signature demo reel showcasing their personal strengths and artistic vision. This culminating project is supported by Animation and VFX Industry, a two-credit course that prepares students for the transition to the professional world with insights into studio practices, career planning, and industry expectations. The program's structure emphasizes both technical mastery and creative expression, ensuring graduates are not only highly skilled but also prepared to collaborate and innovate within studio environments. With a total of 46 credits, this intensive curriculum provides the comprehensive training and portfolio development necessary to launch a successful career in computer animation, positioning Sheridan graduates as top candidates in the global animation industry.
