COURSE CURRICULUM

Sheridan's Network Engineering Technology program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in networking, cloud technologies, programming, and cybersecurity. In the first semester, students study the fundamentals of data communication and networking, programming foundations using Python, computer math, web development, and technical communication, along with a general education elective, totaling 22 credits. The second semester builds on this foundation with courses in enterprise networks, web programming, Linux operating systems, database design and implementation, cloud-enabled networks, and another general education elective, again totaling 22 credits. In the third semester, students focus on programming for networks in Python, the physical layer, computer and network security, network service applications, Windows administration, and participate in a co-operative education forum, with an optional co-op work term offering practical industry experience. The fourth semester covers network engineering, database management, IT project management using PMP, cloud architecting, Wi-Fi networks, and AI and machine learning with Python, along with a co-op work term. The fifth semester emphasizes advanced network engineering, software-defined networks, carrier networks, innovation, and probability, plus a co-op term. The sixth and final semester focuses on network engineering, applied security, and Internet core technologies, ensuring graduates are ready to enter the workforce with robust technical expertise and real-world experience.
