COURSE CURRICULUM

The Massage Therapy advanced diploma program at Sheridan provides a comprehensive curriculum designed to prepare students for a career as a Registered Massage Therapist (RMT) and to write the College of Massage Therapists of Ontario (CMTO) examination. In the first semester, students build foundational knowledge in anatomy, human physiology, massage therapy techniques, therapeutic relationships, and professional practices, totaling 15 credits. The second semester expands on this foundation with courses in nutrition, advanced human physiology, massage therapy, hydrotherapy, anatomy and palpation, and a general education elective, for a total of 20 credits. In semester three, students study pathophysiology, clinical assessment, massage therapy techniques, clinical practice, exercise design, and neurology, totaling 16 credits. Semester four continues with advanced pathophysiology, clinical assessment, massage therapy, clinical practice focused on sport injuries, exercise intervention, and a general education elective, also totaling 16 credits. In semester five, students engage in regulated health practice, advanced massage therapy, clinical practice in oncology and chronic conditions, field placement, and a general education elective, totaling 11 credits. The final semester emphasizes comprehensive review, advanced massage therapy, clinical practice in geriatric and complex care, and field placement, totaling 8 credits. Throughout the program, students gain hands-on experience, professional skills, and clinical expertise, preparing them for successful careers in massage therapy.
