COURSE CURRICULUM

The Graphic Design – Creative Strategies three-year advanced diploma at Sheridan provides a comprehensive curriculum that combines foundational skills, advanced design techniques, and industry-relevant experience to prepare students for leadership in the creative sector. In the first year, students focus on building core competencies through courses in design process, typography, visual design, communication design, tools for typographic and visual design, design administration, and communications, laying a strong technical and conceptual foundation. The second year emphasizes applied skills, with courses in design methods, typographic systems, visual design systems, storytelling for design, media preparation, design career development, and general education electives, helping students integrate theory with practical applications. In the third year, the program advances to leadership and strategic thinking, including courses such as design strategy, applied typography, applied visual design, communication design systems, emerging technologies, project modalities, and general education electives in the third semester, followed by design leadership, advanced typography and visual design, applied project narratives, design studio, and design portfolio production in the fourth semester. The final two semesters focus on Art Direction, project planning for multiplatform communication, data-driven storytelling, extended modalities, design collaboration, design futures, design execution for multiplatform communication, advanced project narratives, emerging modalities, and design networking, ensuring students graduate with strong technical, conceptual, and professional skills to excel in the dynamic field of graphic design.
