COURSE CURRICULUM

The Architectural Technology program offers a comprehensive sequence of courses designed to build strong technical, creative and professional skills across six semesters. Students begin with foundational subjects such as CAD drafting, architectural studio work, math for architecture, building materials, residential detailing and architectural history. In Semester 2, they advance to more complex CAD applications, studio development, estimating, building systems and health and safety, with the option to join the co-op stream. As students move into Semester 3, the curriculum deepens with advanced CAD drafting, commercial detailing, structures, building systems and materials, preparing them for more sophisticated design challenges. Semester 4 introduces Building Information Modeling (BIM), project management, specifications and further structural studies, ensuring students gain industry-relevant knowledge. In Semester 5, learners explore advanced BIM topics, building renovations, higher-level studio courses, and the next stage of project management and structural design. The final semester focuses on professional readiness through courses in entrepreneurship, portfolio development, Ontario Building Code exam preparation and architectural visualization, along with four specialized mini-courses that allow students to tailor their learning to specific interests. Co-op work terms may be completed after Semesters 2, 3 and 4, offering valuable hands-on industry experience.
