COURSE CURRICULUM

The Welding Engineering Technician program offers a comprehensive four-semester curriculum designed to build strong technical, analytical and practical skills for careers in welding and fabrication. In the first semester, you’ll develop essential foundations through courses in trade safety, blueprint reading, welding processes, structural fillet welding, mathematics and computer skills, gaining the knowledge needed to work safely and effectively in welding environments. Semester two focuses on metallurgy, advanced blueprint applications, layout and fabrication, CAD fundamentals, GTAW training and structural groove welding, giving you a deeper understanding of materials and welding techniques. In the third semester, you’ll expand your expertise with trade calculations, advanced CAD for fabrication, structural steel layout and fabrication and vertical and overhead groove welding, strengthening both precision and versatility. The final semester prepares you for industry employment with courses in rigging, hoisting, pipe and pressure vessel layout and fabrication, welding operations management, open-root pipe welding, non-destructive testing and entrepreneurism to support future leadership or business opportunities. Combining hands-on training with technical theory and industry-focused skills, this curriculum ensures you graduate ready for welding apprenticeships, advanced certifications and employment in fabrication shops, construction, manufacturing, pressure vessel work and other skilled trades sectors.
