COURSE CURRICULUM

The Office Administration–Health Services program at Sheridan College is a four-semester diploma designed to prepare students for administrative roles in healthcare environments. In the first semester, students build core skills through courses such as Business English, Word Processing Applications, Document Processing and Proficiency, Learning Fundamentals for Office Administration, Medical Administrative Procedures, and Medical Terminology, which provide a strong foundation in communication, office work, and healthcare basics. The second semester focuses on practical healthcare office skills including Medical E-Billing and Scheduling, Advanced Document Processing, Spreadsheet Essentials, Medical Terminology II, and Workplace Preparation, along with a general education course to broaden learning. In the third semester, students advance into Medical Administrative Procedures II and Financial Office Management while also studying Health Information Management, Presentation and Design, and Communication Skills for Health Services to strengthen professional and technical abilities. The final semester emphasizes advanced medical office practices through courses like Medicine for Office Administrators, Leadership in the Workplace, and Medical E-Transcription, along with Medical Administrative Procedures III. Students then choose between a Field Placement or an Administrative Simulation in Health Services, providing either real-world experience or simulated workplace training. Overall, the program equips graduates with the skills needed for healthcare office and administrative support roles.
