COURSE CURRICULUM

The Industrial Mechanic – Millwright program at Sheridan is a comprehensive two-year diploma designed to provide students with the technical skills, hands-on experience, and industry knowledge required to succeed in modern industrial settings. In the first semester, students focus on trade mathematics, rigging and hoisting, drawings and schematics, welding and fabrication, workshop practice, and foundational machine and workshop technology, totaling 18 credits. The second semester builds on these skills with advanced trade mathematics, electrical and electronic controls, welding and fabrication, fluid power systems, CNC for machine tools, and quality systems and operations management, along with a general education elective, for 22 credits. Semester three continues technical and applied learning through computer skills for trades professionals, 3D computer-aided design, electrical and electronic controls, workshop practice, machine technology, and power transmission, totaling 23 credits. The fourth semester emphasizes applications software and solid modeling, electrical and electronic controls, mechanical manufacturing processes, additive manufacturing and robotics, projects in manufacturing and sustainability, leadership, and entrepreneurship, contributing 20 credits, along with a work-integrated learning component. Following the two-year program, students have the option to participate in a one-year co-op across three semesters, gaining real-world experience while earning credits for work terms. This curriculum ensures graduates leave with practical expertise, advanced technical knowledge, and a strong foundation for career advancement in industrial maintenance, mechanical technology, and millwright roles.
