COURSE CURRICULUM

Sheridan’s Interior Decorating diploma program offers a well-rounded curriculum that blends creative and technical skills essential for success in the industry. In the first semester, students build a strong foundation with courses like Fundamentals of Design, Principles of Drafting, Drawing Techniques, Colour and Textile Applications, and Essential Communication Skills, totaling 15 credits. The second semester expands knowledge with Interior Environments – Space Planning Basics, Digital Communication: Introduction, Finishes and Sustainable Issues, Drafting – Residential Spaces, History of the Decorative Arts, and a General Education course, providing 18 credits. In the third semester, students advance to Interior Environments – Residential Spaces, Digital Communication: Intermediate, Rendering and Digital Visualization, Lighting, Window Treatments and Soft Furnishings, Business for Interior Decorating, and an additional General Education course, earning 21 credits. The final semester focuses on more specialized and professional skills including Interior Environments – Commercial, Digital Communication: Advanced, Drawing and Communication Skills: Commercial Spaces, Drafting and Detailing, Kitchen and Bathroom Design, Professional Practice/Field Placement, and Home Fashion Display and Home Staging, with a total of 21 credits. This comprehensive coursework ensures students develop expertise in both residential and commercial interiors, digital visualization, drafting, lighting, and business practices. The program also emphasizes hands-on experience through field placement, preparing students to enter the workforce with a versatile skill set.
