COURSE CURRICULUM

The Information Technology Infrastructure and Services program at Sheridan provides a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with both foundational and advanced IT skills. In the first semester, students focus on operating systems technologies, web design, productivity software, spreadsheets, and technical communication, establishing a strong base in IT principles and essential workplace skills. The second semester emphasizes hardware troubleshooting, networking fundamentals, database management, call tracking, and customer service, with preparation for A+ Certification and an optional co-op work term to gain real-world experience. In the third semester, students advance their knowledge in data network design and configuration using routers and switches, help desk management, SQL and database administration, Linux and Windows server operations, and IT project management using PMP methodology, with another optional co-op for practical exposure. The fourth semester focuses on computer and network security, cloud security, MS PowerShell scripting, web technologies, IT training techniques, entrepreneurship, and a general education course, ensuring students graduate with both technical expertise and professional skills. Across all semesters, the program emphasizes hands-on learning through labs, projects, and co-op opportunities, allowing students to develop practical problem-solving, communication, and team collaboration skills. Graduates leave ready to support, maintain, and secure IT infrastructure in diverse organizational settings, with the flexibility to continue into advanced certifications or career paths in IT administration and services.
