COURSE CURRICULUM

Sheridan’s Computer Systems Technician – Cyber Security diploma provides a comprehensive, hands-on curriculum designed to prepare students for entry-level roles in cyber security and related IT fields. In Semester 1, students build foundational skills in programming with Python, operating systems, data communications, ethical considerations in cyber security, and technical communication, along with a general education elective, totaling 20 credits. Semester 2 advances technical knowledge through courses in cryptography principles and applications, web and application security, cloud-enabled networks, Linux operating systems, Windows Server administration, and a general education elective, amounting to 21 credits. Semester 3 introduces AI and machine learning with Python, access and identity management, cloud security and privacy, MS PowerShell scripting, and incident management and security operations, while also covering customer service skills, for a total of 21 credits. In the final Semester 4, students focus on digital forensics, cloud database security, digital enterprises, threat intelligence, penetration testing, entrepreneurship, and a general education elective, culminating in 24 credits. The program combines practical, hands-on lab experiences with theoretical learning, emphasizing the Operate & Maintain and Protect & Defend skillsets of the Canadian Cyber Security Skills Framework. With guidance from industry-experienced instructors and access to cutting-edge cyber range simulations, students gain the technical expertise, problem-solving ability, and applied experience needed to launch a career in cyber security or pursue further education in the field.
