COURSE CURRICULUM

Sheridan’s Computer Programming diploma program features a comprehensive and innovative curriculum designed to equip students with essential skills for a successful career in software development. Over four semesters, students engage in a blend of theoretical learning and practical, hands-on projects using industry-standard tools and programming languages. In the first semester, foundational courses such as Programming Foundations – Python, Web Development, Introduction to Data Communications and Networking, Technical Communication, and Computer Math Fundamentals provide a strong base in logic, coding, and communication, totaling 22 credits. Semester two builds on these skills with Object-Oriented Programming using Java, Web Programming, Cloud Enabled Networks, Database Design and Implementation, Operating Systems – Linux, and a general education elective, also totaling 22 credits. In semester three, students dive into more advanced subjects including Enterprise Java Development, AI and Machine Learning using Python, Mobile Web-based Applications, Computer & Network Security, Database Management, and Software Design Fundamentals, for a total of 21 credits. The final semester prepares students for industry with high-level courses like .NET Technologies using C#, Data Structures and Algorithm Development in C, Hybrid Mobile Application Development, Systems Development Methodologies, IT Project Management using PMP, and a final general education elective, summing up to 24 credits. This well-rounded, skill-rich program ensures students graduate ready to meet industry demands and pursue diverse roles in software and application development.
