COURSE CURRICULUM

The Computer Engineering Technician program at Sheridan offers a comprehensive and innovative curriculum designed to build foundational and advanced skills essential for a successful career in engineering technology. In the first semester, students focus on core topics such as Electrical Fundamentals, Electronic Fabrication, Programming Foundations in Python, Technical Reports and Presentations, Mathematics 1, and Practical Circuits, totaling 22 credits. This semester establishes the groundwork in both theory and hands-on applications. Moving into the second semester, the focus shifts to Digital Principles, Electronic Devices and Circuits, Object-Oriented Programming in Java, Operating Systems with Linux, Applied Calculus, and a General Education Elective, summing up to 23 credits. This semester deepens students’ understanding of digital systems, software development, and operating environments. The third semester emphasizes Database Design and Implementation, Digital Principles 2, Applied C Programming, Computer Architecture, Electronic Drafting and CAD, alongside another General Education course, with 20 credits in total, preparing students for complex systems and software integration. In the fourth and final semester, courses include Database Management, Microprocessors, Analog Circuits, Industrial Robotics, IT Project Management using PMP, Introduction to Data Communications and Networking, and a General Education course, accumulating 23 credits. This final term equips students with knowledge of modern microprocessor technology, analog systems, robotics, project management, and networking fundamentals. Throughout the program, students engage with both theoretical concepts and practical applications, ensuring they graduate ready to meet industry demands with a strong technical foundation and critical problem-solving skills.
