COURSE CURRICULUM

The Architectural Technician diploma program at Sheridan offers a comprehensive and creative learning experience designed to build practical skills and technical knowledge essential for architectural work. In the first semester, students focus on foundational courses such as Architectural Drafting 1 – CAD Applications, Architectural Studio 1, Building Materials, Math in Architecture, Architectural Detailing – Residential, and Architectural History, totaling 21 credits. The second semester continues to build on drafting and studio skills with Architectural Drafting 2 – CAD and Architectural Studio 2, alongside courses in advanced math for architecture, Estimating, Building Systems, a general education course, and Health and Safety, culminating in 21.5 credits. The third semester advances students’ technical expertise with Architectural Drafting 3 – CAD, Architectural Studio 3, and studies in Building Materials, Building Systems, Structures, and Architectural Detailing – Commercial, maintaining a total of 21 credits. Finally, the fourth semester introduces Building Information Modeling, Architectural Studio 4, Project Management, advanced Structures, Specifications, and another general education course, rounding out the curriculum with 21 credits. Throughout the program, students engage in hands-on design projects and technical training that prepare them for real-world architectural challenges. This structured progression ensures graduates develop proficiency in drafting, design, material knowledge, and construction systems, while also learning essential skills like project management and health and safety practices.
