Sheridan’s Welding Techniques program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to equip students with essential skills and knowledge for success in the welding trade. In the first semester, students focus on foundational subjects such as Welding Trade Safety, Blueprint Reading Fundamentals for Welders, and Mathematics for Welders, which provide the necessary theoretical background. Practical skills are developed through courses like Welding and Cutting Processes and Structural Fillet Welding, ensuring hands-on experience with critical welding techniques. Complementing these are courses in Computer Skills for Trades Professionals and Industrial Workplace Preparation, which prepare students for the technological and professional demands of the industry. The total credit load for the first semester is 24 credits, reflecting a robust and immersive learning experience. In the second semester, students deepen their expertise with advanced topics such as Metallurgy for Welding, Blueprint Reading Applications for Welders, and Layout and Fabrication, which enhance their understanding of material properties and fabrication processes. The program also integrates modern technology with Concepts and Mechanical Applications in CAD, providing essential skills in computer-aided design. Specialized welding techniques are emphasized in Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW) and Structural Groove Welding with Backing in the Flat and Horizontal Positions, both critical for industry readiness. Additionally, students complete a General Education course to broaden their academic foundation. This semester also carries 24 credits, maintaining a rigorous pace throughout the program.
