COURSE CURRICULUM

The Plumbing program at Sheridan is designed to provide students with a comprehensive foundation in plumbing trade skills through a combination of theoretical knowledge and practical application. In the first semester, students engage in intensive hands-on courses such as Plumbing Fundamentals 1A and 1B, each worth six credits, which focus on core plumbing techniques and practices. Complementing these are courses in Plumbing Trade Safety and Trade Calculations for Plumbing Practices, ensuring students understand the critical safety protocols and mathematical concepts necessary for accurate and safe plumbing work. Students also develop essential skills in Trade Blue Print Reading to interpret technical drawings, as well as Computer Skills for Trades Professionals and Industrial Workplace Preparation, which prepare them for modern work environments and effective communication in industrial settings. This semester totals 27 credits, laying a strong groundwork for future learning. In the second semester, the focus shifts to advanced concepts with courses like Codes, Standards and Regulations, which familiarize students with the legal and technical frameworks governing plumbing work. Plumbing Practice 2 and Plumbing Theory 2 further deepen practical skills and theoretical understanding, enabling students to confidently apply their knowledge in real-world scenarios. Additionally, Welding for Plumbers introduces essential welding techniques specific to the trade. A general education course rounds out the semester, contributing to a well-rounded education. With a total of 21 credits in the second semester, this program equips students with the technical proficiency, safety awareness, and workplace readiness required for success in the plumbing industry, preparing them effectively for apprenticeship opportunities and careers in various plumbing fields.
