The Mechanical Techniques – CNC & Precision Machining program at Sheridan delivers a comprehensive curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on training across two semesters, totaling 48 credits. In Semester 1, students begin with ENGI12534 Precision Machining 1, a 12-credit course focused on foundational machining practices, while CNCM14579 CNC Manual Part Programming introduces manual coding for CNC operations. ENGI23829 Introduction to Industrial Mechanical Drawings helps students understand technical blueprints essential for manufacturing, and MATH14207 Trade Calculations 1 builds math skills specific to machining tasks. COMM10379 Workplace Preparation and Safety emphasizes professional conduct and safety procedures in industrial environments. Semester 2 continues to build on these fundamentals with ENGI19207 Precision Machining 2 (12 credits), advancing students’ skills with more complex machining operations. CNCM10146 CNC Setup and Machining 1 teaches setup and hands-on CNC machine operation, while ENGI24310 Interpreting Mechanical Drawings develops deeper comprehension of technical schematics used in manufacturing. CNCM15738 Computer Aided Manufacturing 1 introduces students to software-based solutions for CNC machining and part creation. A General Education Elective (3 credits) allows students to broaden their learning in a subject of personal or professional interest.
