COURSE CURRICULUM

Sheridan’s Electrical Techniques certificate program delivers a comprehensive and practical curriculum that equips students with the foundational knowledge and hands-on experience needed to launch a successful career in the electrical trades. In the first semester, students dive into core electrical training with courses such as Residential Installations, Electrical Theory 1, Instrumentation Electrical, and Residential Prints and Standards, where they develop essential wiring, circuitry, and code-compliance skills. Complementing these are foundational courses in Computer Skills for Trades Professionals, Mathematics for the Trades, and Electrical Trade Safety 1, which together enhance technical literacy, safety awareness, and problem-solving capabilities, for a total of 27 credits. In the second semester, students expand their knowledge with more advanced topics, including Commercial Installations and Commercial Prints and Standards, where they explore larger-scale electrical systems and construction documentation. Introduction to Renewable Energy introduces sustainable energy solutions relevant to modern electrical practices, while Electrical Trade Safety 2 builds on the previous safety course to deepen hazard prevention skills. Industrial Workplace Preparation enhances communication and professional readiness, and Industrial Electronic Devices 1 covers the fundamentals of electronic control systems. A General Education Elective rounds out the semester, allowing students to broaden their knowledge base. With a total of 24 credits in the second term, this program offers a well-rounded education that prepares students for entry-level roles or apprenticeships in the electrical field.
