COURSE CURRICULUM

Sheridan’s Honours Bachelor of Science in Osteopathy curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive foundation in osteopathic theory, clinical practice, and health sciences, integrated with extensive hands-on experience. In the first semester, students study the science of osteopathy, human anatomy and physiology, principles of biomechanics, fundamentals of nutrition, ethical practice, and introductory composition, establishing a strong scientific and professional base. Semester two introduces clinical methodology, applied clinical practice, and clinical experience alongside advanced physiology and exercise science, while semester three expands into neurology, pathophysiology, critical thinking, and further applied clinical practice and placements. Semester four focuses on cranio-facial and upper cervical structure, embryology, pain science, and prepares students for internship, with intensive applied clinical practice and supervised clinical experience. Work-integrated learning placements begin early and continue throughout the program. In semesters five and six, students study visceral structure and function, diagnostic imaging, pharmacology, population-specific approaches, and advanced applied clinical practice, coupled with substantial clinical experience and additional work-integrated learning. The final two semesters emphasize obstetrics, pediatrics, advanced therapeutic techniques, advanced osteopathic techniques and inter-relationships, independent research, business entrepreneurship for clinical practitioners, and extensive clinical experience, culminating in a professional, practice-ready graduate equipped with over 1,000 hours of supervised clinical practice and the knowledge, skills, and experience to enter the growing field of osteopathy.
