COURSE CURRICULUM

Honours Bachelor of Information Sciences (Cyber Security) program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to build foundational and advanced skills in cyber security through a blend of programming, mathematics, networking, and specialized security courses. In the first semester, students begin with introductory courses such as Introduction to Cyber Security, Python Programming, Computer Mathematics, Communication Networks, Linux Operating Systems, and Composition and Rhetoric, totaling 20 credits. The second semester builds on this foundation with courses like Intermediate Python Programming, Linux Systems Administration, Structured Data Modelling, and Information Age Ethics. In the third semester, students study Security Threats and Risk Assessment, Advanced Programming, Statistical Methods, Internetworking, and CPU Architecture, alongside breadth electives. The fourth semester introduces Multi-tier Programming, Network and Distributed Systems Security, Information Systems Forensics, Database Implementations, and Algorithm Development.In the fifth semester, students focus on Software Engineering, Introduction to Cryptology, Windows Administration, Database Security, and Operating Systems Design, complemented by career preparation and electives. The sixth semester deepens knowledge with Information Systems Security Auditing, Advanced Cryptology, Intrusion Detection and Prevention, Advanced Forensics, and electives, with a choice between Reverse Engineering and Cloud Security. The seventh semester includes the first phase of the ISS Graduation Project, Wireless Security, and electives with a choice between Malicious Code Defense or Data Analytics and AI/ML. The final semester focuses on completing the ISS Graduation Project, Penetration Testing, Advanced Topics in Information Security, and electives. This well-rounded curriculum ensures graduates are ready to tackle real-world cyber security challenges with strong theoretical and practical expertise.
