COURSE CURRICULUM

Sheridan’s Honours Bachelor of Health Sciences – Kinesiology and Health Promotion curriculum provides a comprehensive blend of foundational science, applied learning, and professional development across eight semesters. In the first year, students gain essential knowledge in human physiology, biomechanics, nutrition, personal wellness, and academic writing. The second year expands into exercise physiology, motor control, public health, and advanced human physiology, complemented by breadth electives for a well-rounded education. In the third year, the focus shifts to anatomy, fitness testing and assessment, growth and development, pathophysiology, ergonomics, health promotion, and resistance training, alongside seminars and field placements to integrate practical experience. Students also participate in a 14-week winter co-op or internship, providing hands-on industry exposure. The final year emphasizes advanced topics, including clinical exercise physiology, therapeutic exercise, strength and conditioning, fitness and lifestyle assessment, health promotion project planning, independent research, and professional practice. Business administration, statistical methods, and leadership skills are incorporated to prepare students for diverse career pathways. Throughout the program, applied learning is reinforced through field placements, co-op experiences, and capstone projects, ensuring students graduate with the technical expertise, research skills, and practical experience necessary to pursue careers in kinesiology, health promotion, clinical exercise physiology, rehabilitation sciences, public health, or further graduate studies, while also developing the leadership and entrepreneurial skills to excel in professional practice.
