COURSE CURRICULUM

Honours Bachelor of Electrical Engineering program offers a comprehensive and practical curriculum designed to develop both foundational knowledge and advanced technical expertise. The program begins with core subjects in calculus, linear algebra, physics, chemistry, and computer programming, integrated with courses on engineering principles, health and safety, and technical communication. In the third semester, students advance to differential equations, digital systems, data structures, electronic circuits, and electrical power systems, while continuing to build their communication and teamwork skills. The fourth semester introduces numerical methods, signals and systems, electromagnetic fields, and microprocessor systems, along with a co-op preparation forum that sets the stage for future internships.In the fifth and sixth semesters, students choose between two specializations: Mechatronics or Power & Energy. The Mechatronics stream includes embedded software, modeling, robotics, and MEMS systems. The Power & Energy stream covers power generation, transmission, power electronics, and intelligent power systems. Both streams include project management and control systems courses to ensure well-rounded engineering expertise.The final year focuses on a two-part capstone project where students conceive, design, implement, and operate engineering solutions. Courses in law, ethics, sustainability, and entrepreneurship prepare students for professional practice. With up to 50% lab-based learning and a mandatory internship, the curriculum ensures graduates are equipped for both licensure and immediate employment in engineering roles.
