COURSE CURRICULUM

Sheridan’s Honours Bachelor of Craft and Design – Textiles major provides a comprehensive curriculum that combines technical skill development, creative exploration, and professional preparation. In the first year, students build foundational skills in textiles, including form, surface, sewing, construction, and explorations in print, alongside alternate media courses in ceramics, glass, furniture, and industrial design, digital modelling, sketching, drawing, and art and design history, with opportunities to strengthen visual communication and digital drawing skills. The second year deepens textile expertise through courses in design approaches, dye and material processes, digital design, form and interlaced structures, and studio electives, while also integrating historical and theoretical perspectives through textiles history and complementary courses in how things work or form, structure, and surface. In the third year, students focus on advanced textile practice with series and scale, sustainable practices, digital design, and contemporary issues in design, complemented by a work term and career preparation. The fourth year emphasizes independent and professional practice through investigations, studio projects, marketing and promotion, capstone preparation, and a 14-week degree internship, culminating in capstone project seminars and execution courses, along with business models and degree breadth electives. This curriculum ensures graduates are skilled, versatile, and ready to innovate in contemporary textile and craft practices.
