COURSE CURRICULUM

Honours Bachelor of Craft and Design (Multidisciplinary) at Sheridan College enables students to explore all five craft and design streams — Ceramics, Furniture, Glass, Industrial Design and Textiles — before choosing two to specialize in. In the first semester, you select two full‑term studio courses from different disciplines (e.g. handbuilding ceramics, furniture design, hot glassforming, industrial design, textiles) plus two half‑term “alternate media” modules in two other streams, along with foundational courses in digital modelling, sketching and writing, for 18 credits. The second semester continues with two more full‑term courses in different disciplines, one new half‑term alternate media course, and core studies in 2D visual communication, digital modelling and art & design history (18 credits). Semester three offers two more full‑term courses from different studios, alongside electives, studio photography and a breadth elective (15 credits). In semester four you again choose two full‑term studio courses from different disciplines, plus a structural/theory elective, a history elective (related to one craft), a second studio elective and a breadth elective (total 18 credits). In fifth semester, you take three full‑term studio courses (from at least two disciplines), career‑preparation, contemporary design issues and a breadth elective (16 credits). Semester six includes two full‑term studio courses (from two different disciplines), plus marketing & promotion, capstone preparation and a breadth elective (15 credits), followed by a mandatory 14‑week internship. The final two semesters (seven and eight) are dedicated to capstone project seminars and execution, business‑models studies, and breadth electives (12 credits each).
