COURSE CURRICULUM

Journalism program offers a comprehensive four-semester curriculum that blends theoretical knowledge with hands-on, practical experience to prepare students for careers in modern media. In the first semester, students build foundational skills in reporting, media studies, editing audio and video, camera operation, lighting, field audio, studio production, and media graphics, developing the technical and creative abilities essential for professional journalism. The second semester emphasizes ethical reporting, public journalism, advanced storytelling for audio platforms, specialized writing formats, and indigenous awareness, ensuring graduates are equipped to navigate complex social and cultural contexts. In the third semester, students gain experience in integrated newsroom practices, cross-platform reporting, live remote reporting, longform and feature content creation, advanced research, and video production graphics, preparing them to produce content across multiple media channels. The fourth semester focuses on advanced newsroom operations, new technologies and techniques, global community content, field placement, and media entrepreneurship, providing real-world experience and professional readiness. Students also have the opportunity to specialize in areas such as advanced performance and interview, sports and entertainment journalism, or podcasting and visual storytelling, allowing them to tailor their learning to career goals. The program cultivates multiplatform reporting, content production, investigative skills, on-air performance, and multimedia presentation, producing adaptable, skilled journalists ready for the evolving media landscape.
